
Sudhir Chandra, a historian, has been associated with universities and research institutions in different parts of the world. His English publications include Gandhi: An Impossible Possibility, The Oppressive Present: Literature and Social Consciousness in Colonial India (both Routledge), and Enslaved Daughters: Colonialism, Law and Women’s Rights (Oxford University Press, 1997). His Hindi publications are Hindu Hindutva Hindustan, Gandhi ke Desh Mein, Gandhi: Ek Asambhav Sambhavna (also available in Gujarati and Kannada), and Bura Waqt Achchhe Log (all Rajkamal Prakashan). He has also edited Violence and Non-violence across Time: History, Religion and Culture (Routledge).
