
A prominent figure in modern Hindi literature, Dr. Shishir Som is a poet who weaves intricate narratives around love, nature, and human relationships. Born in Prayagraj, this renowned forestry scientist has also penned stories, science dissemination articles, and environmental awareness pieces, alongside his poetry.
His three collections of love poems – “Mohbhang Ke Baad” (2015), “Apne Apne Moksha” (2017), and “Aatma Ka Ardhansh” (2020) – have garnered acclaim from readers and critics alike. His upcoming song collection, “Shayad Tumne Ho Pehchana”, is eagerly awaited.
Dr. Som has authored over 15 books on forestry and the environment, cementing his expertise in these fields. He is particularly popular among the youth for his melodious poetry recitals, skilled anchoring, and engaging performances.
As the spearhead of “Artists for Environment”, a consortium of writers, painters, photographers, musicians, performers, and filmmakers, Dr. Som promotes environmental consciousness and sustainability through creative expression.
A recipient of numerous awards in literature and environmental conservation, Dr. Som currently heads the Forest Research Centre, Prayagraj, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
