P.K. Das, renowned as an Architect–Activist, is committed to bridging the gap between architecture and communities through participatory planning, with a strong focus on sustainable urban ecology. His diverse work spans organizing slum dwellers for improved living conditions, developing affordable housing models, influencing housing and urban development policies, reclaiming public spaces, and conserving natural areas. Das has played a pivotal role in reimagining Mumbai, particularly its coastline, and has been involved in various urban planning, design, and architectural projects across India. He has authored numerous books and publications and is a global speaker on urban issues. To address these challenges, he founded the e-journal “Question of Cities – A Forum for Nature, People, and Sustainability.” His contributions, particularly in Mumbai’s waterfront development and slum rehabilitation, have earned him several prestigious awards, including the First Urban Age Award and the International Jane Jacobs Medal in 2016.
