Nandini Guha is a retired Associate Professor of English from the College of Vocational Studies, University of Delhi. She received the Katha Award for translating Bani Basu’s novel, ‘Dark Afternoons’ (Katha, 2007). Other translations from Bangla to English include Taslima Nasreen’s autobiography, ‘Wild Wind’ (Srishti Publishers, 2006) and Anita Agnihotri’s, ‘Awakening’ (Zubaan, 2009).
She has contributed to ‘Women in Concert’ (Stree Kolkata), ‘The Essential Tagore’ (Bellknap Press, 2011) and ‘Shades of Difference – Selected Works of Rabindranath Tagore’ (Social Science Press, 2015). She has also translated Prof. Amalendu De’s award winning historical treatise, ‘In Search of Siraj’s Son and Descendants’ (Parul Prakashini, 2015). Two poems of Hindi Poet Vinay Vishwas translated by her have been published in the March-April 2019 volume of Indian Literature, Sahitya Akademi ‘s Bi-monthly Journal.
A Plate of White Marble her translation of Bani Basu’s novel, ‘Swet Patherer Thala’ was published by Niyogi Books in 2020. It has been nominated for a Kalinga Literary Award in 2021. The short story ‘ Mrs. Talukdarer Bondhu’ awaits publication.
