
Himanjali Sankar is a writer and editor. She grew up in Calcutta and did her Masters and MPhil in English literature from JNU, New Delhi. Her children’s and YA books include The Stupendous Timetelling Superdog and Talking of Muskaan, which were shortlisted for the Crossword Book Award. Mrs C Remembers, her first novel for adults, won her the FICCI Publishing Award for Upcoming Author of the Year in 2018. Himanjali’s young adult novel, The Lies We Tell, was shortlisted for The Neev Book Award in 2020.
Himanjali is the Mentor and Editor for the HWR Khozem Merchant Non-Fiction Fellowship and has served on several juries, including the Rainbow Awards for Literature and Journalism 2025. Apart from a short stint teaching literature at the University of Indianapolis, she’s been an Editor with several publishing houses in New Delhi for around two decades. She was formerly Editorial Director at Simon & Schuster India and, prior to that, Associate Publisher at Bloomsbury India.
