
Dr. Baas holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam and has held various academic positions, including at the National University of Singapore and the University of Amsterdam.  His research primarily focuses on urban anthropology, with interests in artificial intelligence, life in Indian and Asian megacities, new middle-class populations, and migration/transnationalism.

Dr. Baas’s extensive fieldwork across various Indian cities, including Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Patna, as well as in Melbourne and Singapore, has provided him with unique insights into the social and cultural mobilities within these urban landscapes.
