Abhay Mishra walks along the rivers and while doing so, he tries having conversations with the rivers and listening to their ever flowing stories. Amidst the warps and wefts of the society and rivers, he tries to voice the concern about how we have slowly forgotten to say thank you to our rivers. Abhay has travelled the stretch from Gomukh to Gangasagar four times till now. He is one of the few writers who write on the environment in Hindi. More than hundred of his articles on the environment have been published. He is also the author of the books viz. ‘Dar Dar Gange’, ‘Maati Maanush Choon’, and ‘Chullu Bhar Kahaani’.
As a journalist, Abhay tries to voice that pain of rivers in his stories, which usually gets lost in the mainstream news. He has been awarded with the ‘Anupam Mishra Memorial Medal’, the highest recognition in the field of environmental journalism. Abhay is currently associated with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi. At IGNCA, through the Riverine Culture Project, he is trying to understand the cultural aspects associated with the rivers.
