Kailash Rai is a freelance researcher, writer, editor, and mentor whose work centers on gender, social justice, sexuality, minority rights, and indigenous issues in Nepal. With over two decades of experience in feminist knowledge production, she brings a deeply intersectional approach to her work—examining the social, cultural, and political realities of diverse women and marginalized communities. Rai has authored and edited numerous books and articles that critically explore these themes, amplifying the voices and experiences often overlooked in mainstream discourse. Her work not only documents but also contributes to the evolution of women’s movements in Nepal, highlighting the agency and resistance of those at the margins. She currently serves as the Vice-Chair of Martin Chautari, a research and policy think tank, and is the Co-founder of Indigenous without Borders (IwB), an initiative dedicated to transnational indigenous solidarity. Through her research, writing, and mentorship, Rai continues to challenge dominant narratives and foster inclusive, transformative dialogue across generations.
