
Kedar Mishra, writes poetry in Odia. Born in Sonepur on 15th April 1972.He is also known as an editor, translator, journalist, scholar, art critic, human rights worker and cultural activist. Published five poetry collections in Odia, a language of eastern India- Sabdaku Charipada, Asha –Sukta, Sunya Abhisara, Raga Kedar and Premara Dura Geeta. Two collections of prose; Vag Bishesha and Shesha Sparsha, three books in English; Kandhamal Riot and Mass Media, Bhima Bhoi;Verses from the Void and Popular Religion and Ascetic Practices (co authored) and his works are widely translated into English, German, Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Malayalam, Nepali and Irish. For poetry he has been awarded with Ankur Puraskar-1997, Sulekha Yuba Prativa Samman-2001, panossouth Asia Media Fellowship;2007, Samadrusti Lekhak Samman; 2009, Swara Swakhyara poetry award; 2010, Pakhighara writers award;2010, Manthan Yuba Sampadaka Puraskar; 2011, Sanskrutimitra Samman- 2012, Kailash singh Yuba prativa samman by Utkal Sahitya Samaj 2014,Odisha Youth Inspiration Award 2016, Abani Boral Award 2017, Guru Gangadhar Samman,2019, Paschima poetry award 2019 etc.
Presently working as a journalist and resides in Bhubaneswar. His path breaking media analysis on Kandhamal violence in Odisha was highly acclaimed. He is associated with a series of programmes and organizations to combat communal violence in India. As a renowned art critic and art historian he writes reviews and reports on Indian classical dance and music events. Presently he is a member of editorial board of The Nartanam, a dance journal published from Hyderabad. Also a renowned script writer for Odissi dance performances. He was the Former Editor of the Sachitra Vijaya, one of the leading literary journals of Odisha, and a former member of Odisha Sahitya Academy.
